Course Description: This CLE introduces Texas attorneys to emerging human rights issues in the context of the FIFA World Cup, emphasizing mutual respect, the end of torture and human trafficking, and the importance of media integrity and non-discrimination for all groups. It also addresses domestic violence as a fundamental human rights concern, outlines grievance systems for non-compliance, and reviews relevant local regulations, with practical guidance on resources and support available to Texas-licensed attorneys. Finally, the session highlights the use of human rights toolkits, county-level resolutions, and the development of an e-library/database, encouraging attorneys to participate in distributing resources and contributing to ongoing advocacy efforts.
